MEET THE TEACHERS AT PILATES BY LINDA & CO.

Since its commercial arrival in the late 1990's, Pilates has revolutionized the exercise and fitness industry; following years of high-impact, go for the burn workouts. The slower, more sensible approach has been welcomed by many; a program that you can look forward to, one that engages you and leaves you refreshed, alert, and with a feeling of physical and mental well-being.

Competently trained and knowledgeable practitioners are an essential element in realizing your potential. Our teachers have undergone many hours of training and, with some, many years of study. Books and videos are good for reference, but they cannot take the place of learning one-on-one with a qualified teacher.

And, the example set by a sincere instructor can inspire your own progress.

Alissa Kalczuk is a certified Pilates Mat instructor. She received her certification in the summer of 2009, completing over 140 hours of training through Body Precision Studio's Mat Certification Program in Rosemont, PA. She is currently continuing her education in Pilates Reformers through Balanced Body, and looks forward to completing her certification. Alissa's passion for Pilates was born out of a personal quest for her own health that quickly turned into a love and appreciation to learn and teach the amazing art of Joseph Pilates' "Contrology." Alissa has been with Pilates by Linda since the fall of 2010, and is currently teaching Mat Classes and private clients. She grew up in the Philadelphia area and currently lives in Fox Chase with her husband of 12 years, Carlos and their 9 year old son, Evan. Along with Pilates, she enjoys rock climbing with her husband and son.

Karin Pitcairn writes about herself: "While living in San Francisco and working in Marketing & Advertising, I realized I wanted to do something with my life that helped others in a positive way. My passion for fitness turned into a career in 2003 when I became certified through AFAA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America) as a Personal Trainer. Shortly after that, I also obtained my certification as a Group Exercise Instructor. Currently, I am enrolled to become a Certified Pilates Instructor on all equipment through the Basi Program. I am also involved in the development and Instruction of the Barre2Sculpt™ class exclusively at Pilates by Linda." "I believe that overall fitness is achieved through balancing our minds as well as our bodies. In my experience, frequent exercise has brought synchronicity to my life to help manage the stresses of daily living. If the mind and body are in balance, then a perfect harmony is created within each of us."

Brittiney George is a native of Michigan, where she graduated from Hillsdale College in 1997 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. While at Hillsdale she was a member of the College Volleyball Team and logged over 250 volunteer hours in the physical therapy unit of Hillsdale Hospital, and a summer internship at the University of Michigan MedSport clinic. She is fascinated with the mind/body connection to movement, and feels she learned the most while working with teenagers at various levels of the autism spectrum; and from Linda. Brittiney received her Pilates certification through the PhysicalMind Institute in NY, and holds additional certifications in Personal Training, Spinning, and the Pink Ribbon Program for post operative breast cancer rehabilitation.
